Each year we donate three large Christmas trees to the Taunton, Wiveliscombe and Wellington town centres. But this year we wanted to do even more and spread our Christmas spirit further.

We had 100 Nordmann Fir Christmas trees available during November to donate to charities in Somerset. We were thrilled that Liz Sharkey and Janice Bullivant from Abbeyfield’s Frank Bond House on Heron Drive in Bishops Hull got in touch.

Six residents from Abbeyfield’s Frank Bond House visited to our shop and plantation. They were able to browse our festive decoration displays and enjoy a mince pie and a hot drink. We then helped them choose their Nordmann Fir Christmas tree, which has been lovingly grown by us on our farm.

Janice Bullivant, Activity Coordinator and Head of Department at Abbeyfield’s Frank Bond House, explained: “We have been visiting Langford Lakes for our Christmas tree since 2012. We have made this a festive activity. We always visit the Christmas shop and enjoy the delicious mince pies and hot chocolate. Therefore, to be selected as a recipient for a donated tree was wonderful!”

Abbeyfield is a charity for older people providing housing across the UK and internationally. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for older people through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment to maintain a socially active life.

Frank Bond House is managed by Abbeyfield Somerset Society. It is a purpose-built residential care home, which also offers dementia care and day care. The care home accommodates 44 residents, 27 in single en-suite rooms, and six apartments, which are suitable for married couples.

We also donated Christmas trees to other charities including St Margaret’s Hospice, SeeAbility and Somerset Sight.
