This month (April 2021) our Christmas decorations expert Trudy Hendy has unveiled her key trends for the 2021 festive season.

Trudy is our Christmas decoration buyer here at Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm and she has revealed what she expects to see on trees nationwide this Christmas.

Trudy explained: “The headline trend for 2021 will be peacock and turquoise colours, set along with gold. This ranges from baubles and birds to glamourous glitter decorations. It’s a bit Great Gatsby, 1920s flapper style in inspiration. It’s gorgeously decadent and over the top.

“Another new trend is arts and crafts, these items are made using wood and resin in the traditional festive colours of red, blue and gold. Think artisan woodsman’s cottage. This is an extension of the popularity in other interior areas this year of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement. It’s also akin to the 1920s but simpler and more tactile than the showier peacock and gold decorations.

“Wool woodland animals are set to return again in 2021 in a big way with creatures such as mice, foxes, hedgehogs and squirrels all in attendance. Stag heads and pheasants will be a new addition to the theme this Christmas.

“Another example of bringing the outside in for the festivities, but in a kitsch style, is gnomes! Light up gnomes will still be on trend for Christmas this year. They will range from Nordic elves in forest green to gonks in red and gold with glitter. Some gnomes will be sitting, some standing and others with dangly legs. Plenty to choose from!

“We have added lots of other light up items to our collection this year too ranging from lanterns, Santas, reindeers and snowmen to stars.

“I also mustn’t forget to mention glass decorations – in 2021 they come with lots of glitter, dancing bits, musical hats and animals. You couldn’t possibly ask for anything more.

“As well as making sure your decorations are perfect for the celebrations, it’s also important to make sure the lights on your tree look good as well. Last year our pastel glow warm tree lights were very popular, so this year we have two new colourways called aurora, which are a lighter shade of the pastel, and jolly holly, which is red and green.

“We will also have diamond lights in multicolour and in different sizes in-stock too. Plus, lots of firefly lights in warm white, as well as, numerous battery lit lights.”

This news is certainly getting everyone here at Langford Lakes excited for the 2021 festive season. We cannot wait to see if you’ll be following the trends this December.
