Our Plantation
Woodland & Stream
Woodland run's the length of the plantations, either side of a stream. This area is home to a multitude of plant and wild life, in particular rare lesser spotted Orchids, Deer and occasionally Otters, who incidentally never pay for their fishing!
Coarse Fishing Lakes 1980 - 2000
The first lake was excavated back in 1980, with the most recent in 2000. These not only allow us to irrigate the trees, but also are home to a host of aquatic, mammal and bird life, including rare water voles and kingfishers.
Tree Plantations 1993 - 2001
We started planting trees back in 1993 with 1500 Nordman Fir, then 3000 in 1994 and then 5000 per year ever since. The majority of trees growing on our plantations are Nordman Fir but in recent years we have also planted an increasing amount of Norway Spruce.
Tree Plantations 2002 - 2005
Park field plantation will provide the majority of the trees sold in 2009/2010. Historically Park field belonged to Bindon house and would have been the grounds for the country house ringed by wrought iron railings.
Tree Plantations 2006 - 2010
We are back planting up south of the stream at Middle Hill, with the vast majority of these being Nordman Firs, with some Norway Spruce. Each year’s plantation has a nine year life span, during the last four years the trees are harvested prior to the ground being clearing and prepared ready to be replanted.
